Dr. Anthony Harwell is a second-generation orthodontic specialist who has proudly served the Amarillo community for more than 25 years. Raised in Amarillo and a graduate of Amarillo High School, Dr. Anthony grew up in his father’s orthodontic practice, discovering a love for the profession at a young age. After decades of working side by side with his father, he took over the family practice and continues its tradition of kindhearted, patient-centered orthodontic care at Harwell & Cook Orthodontics.
Dr. Harwell earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. He then pursued advanced specialty training at the University of Texas–Houston Dental Branch, where he earned both a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Master of Science degree. His commitment to clinical excellence and continuing education allows him to provide modern, evidence-based orthodontic treatment for patients of all ages.

Dr. Anthony believes orthodontics is about far more than straightening teeth, it’s about shaping confidence, supporting growth, and positively influencing the lives of young people. Having undergone orthodontic treatment four times himself, including braces and headgear, he deeply understands the patient experience and uses that empathy to create a supportive, encouraging environment. His honest, straightforward communication helps patients feel informed and at ease, often hearing, “It wasn’t as bad as I thought!”

Carrying forward his father’s legacy is one of Dr. Harwell’s greatest honors. He feels privileged to continue serving generations of Amarillo families through a practice built on trust, compassion, and clinical excellence. When he’s not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Anthony enjoys traveling, golf, tennis, hunting, fishing, and photography. He remains closely connected to his community through active church involvement and participation in local dental charities. Dr. Harwell and his wife, Stacey, returned to Amarillo in 1998 to join the family practice and raise their two sons, Tripp and Jackson, in the city he has always called home.
